The full version of the docufilm on Gratteri produced as part of the network project “I ART Madonie” is finally available online. The project has involved more than 40 street artists from all over the world painting on the walls, characters, stories chosen by the communities themselves. With this initiative, the Madonie reveal themselves as never before in a collective document, an independent tale that involved no less than 18 municipalities in the mountain chain of the Sicilian hinterland.
The full documentary of the participating villages, realised by SO.SVI.MA Spa, is the result of intensive work over several months, which is now available on Amazon Prime. With the signature of director Francesco Dinolfo and the script by Marianna Lo Pizzo, the road movie traces the local identities and reveals a multifaceted community, with its own peculiarities and yet strongly intertwined. A territory often recounted through its scenic and natural beauties, but in this case the tale goes beyond the level of material contact by means of an immaterial narrative. Elders who have made the history of the community, young people who reinvent their place in the world through the filter of the place where they were born. A tribute to collective memory that comes together with the call for attention of the small inland villages, of their history and memory.
The street art works involved the following municipalities: Alimena, Aliminusa, Bompietro, Caltavuturo, Castelbuono, Cerda, Geraci Siculo, Gratteri, Lascari, Petralia Soprana, Petralia Sottana, Polizzi Generosa, Pollina, San Mauro Castelverde, Sciara, Scillato, Sclafani Bagni, Valledolmo.
